Spirit of Tournament
This event is different from the general cycling competition and competes for the skill of making bicycles. Those who are involved in bicycle manufacturing and sales as professionals will participate by making their own bicycles. We aim to provide engineers involved in the manufacture and sale of bicycles with a place to promote the development of bicycle-related technologies.
Eligibility
There are three qualifications for participation.
- Works : Makes frames by itself (manufacturer)
- Constructor : The frame is manufactured by ordering it from the outside and assembling it. (Shop)
- Privateer : Making a bicycle as a side job or a hobby. (User)
However, there is no categorization by this. There is a preliminary screening for participation as a privateer.
Entry to this contest is on a team basis. The number of people in the team can be any number as long as it is one or more. It is possible for one company to enter two or more teams. However, one team manager is required for each team. Each team manager must apply for participation.
Entry from overseas is also possible. However, all information is in Japanese, so the team manager must understand Japanese well.
Participating bicycle
Each team can participate using one bicycle with the frame made for this tournament.
There are no restrictions on the material of the frame parts.
The frame format or wheel size is free.
A minimum of 2 hours of lighting is imposed. Note * Ride starts early in the morning.
Pre-exhibition
Teams that applied for participation by the end of 2018 will be able to exhibit their bicycles at the Handmade Bicycle Exhibition to be held at the Tokyo Ryutsu Center on February 23 and 24, 2019.
In addition, visitors will vote on the popularity of the exhibited bicycles. The result of this vote will be added to the final points.

Ride
A 75km lap course that starts and finishes in Takayama Village, Nagano Prefecture. Includes a 16km unpaved forest road on the way.
Rider qualification
Riders shall be selected by each team. Professionals and registered athletes are also allowed, but a handicap will be imposed.
Riders are required to submit a medical certificate from a doctor one week before riding. Also need to submit a non-responsible pledge to the JBT Executive Committee in the event of an accident.
Repair
Regarding bicycle repair, troubles during riding are basically handled by the rider himself. External support / support is prohibited regardless of the person concerned.
Referee
The referee will make a decision on the awarding of points based on the submitted specifications and inspection of the actual vehicle. The referees for this tournament are the following five people.
Mr. Hiroo Watanabe, Mr. Ryoji Shibuya, Mr. Takeshi Sahashi, Mr. Masayuki Hasebe, Mr. Atsushi Matsumoto.
We hope that the referees will love bicycles deeply and have contributed to the bicycle industry for many years. Based on each experience and knowledge, you will be asked to judge her at points that require subjective judgment.

Entry fee
The participation fee for one team is 30,000 yen. After the tournament, additional points will be charged for additional participation.

It will be held on the outdoor stage, but in case of rain it will be held indoors.
Bicycle inspection from 12:30 in the order of presentation.
* If the bicycle needs to be modified, the work will be completed by 18:00 after the presentation, and the bicycle will be brought to the headquarters for re-inspection.
The order of bicycle inspection and presentation will be the order of application and will be described separately.
The presentation will be open to the public from 13:00.
After a 10-minute presentation, there will be a 5-minute question-and-answer session by the referee.
Bicycles that have finished the presentation will be stored at the competition headquarters.It is permissible to add food, RINKO bags, clothing, air pressure, etc. at the start of the next morning, but not to modify the bike itself. If you violate it, will be disqualified.
Will explain the route of the ride event from 6 pm. Attendance of team manager is required.
For accommodation, please use the accommodation facilities in the venue Takayama Village.
We are requesting the Tourism Association to respond to the early morning start. Please refer to the attached list of cooperating accommodation facilities.

The bicycle will be checked by the person in charge of inspection in the order of goals.
In order of arrival, will measure the time required for disassembling and assembling (RINKO) the bicycle, and evaluate and score the RINKO method.
The final goal time is 2:00 pm.
An award ceremony will be held after all participating vehicles arrive.

*1: White or pale yellow with luminosity that allows you to see obstacles 10m ahead.
*2: The tail light is a red or orange one with a luminous intensity that can be confirmed to be lit from 100m behind. The reflector is orange or red, which can be easily confirmed by illuminating it with the headlight (high beam) of the car from 100m behind. On-site inspection may be required if only the reflector is used.
*3: Items that can carry souvenirs (8 hot spring buns).
* 4: The size of the bicycle packed in the bag is that the total length of the three sides is 250 cm or less and the long side is 200 cm or less.
Teams that do not meet the above required components will be open participants. It is not eligible for overall ranking points.
About Weight Measurement
Weigh and give points to bicycle with the above components and with the bag attached.
- Food, clothing, etc. required for the driving event shall be loaded on the bicycle in the above condition for riding. Replenishment by support cars is prohibited.
- When using GPS, the GPS itself is not the target, but the mount for attaching to the bicycle is the target of weight measurement.
- Rinko bags and metal fittings required for Rinko are not subject to weight measurement. However, you must carry a wheel bag, etc. during the riding event.

It would be nice to have photos, figures, and more. Please describe the details such as the frame structural members, various parts and ready-made parts that you devised and manufactured. Based on this report, the current car will be confirmed and points related to machining and work will be calculated.
This report is required to be submitted at the same time as each exhibition and riding event.
Each submission of specifications will be a plus point of 500 points.
Bicycle specifications are allowed to be improved or changed during the period from the exhibition to the riding event. Changes during this period will be plus or minus points depending on the content. Changes must be noted in the report. The details of the points at this time will be decided by the referee.
Presentation
The presentation will be given in 10 minutes per team based on the concept, production technology, practicality, and design. There is a question and answer session by the referee for 5 minutes.

The course consists of a hill climb section, a liaison section, and a downhill section.

1000, 900, 800, 700, 600, 500 … 10th place in order from the 1st place - Liaison section: (from Kasa Pass to Kenashi Pass)
There is no time measurement. However, it is necessary to arrive at the starting point (Kenashi Pass) of the downhill section at noon. - Downhill section: (Kenashi Pass to “YouYu Land”)
It will be a 20km downhill including 16km of gravel section. There is no time measurement.
“Souvenirs” will be charged in this section. Carry it by bicycle. Souvenirs cannot be carried in bags attached to the rider’s body.
The referee will give 500 to 0 points depending on the condition of the souvenir.
- Hill climb section: Time trial point(“YouYu Land” to Kasa Pass)
- RINKO time trial
After the run, the rider will perform a series of disassembly and assembly demonstrations for RINKO at You Yu Land, and the time will be measured.- Will examine the time required for RINKO and the disassembly / assembly method / procedure.
- The measurement time is until the bicycle is stored in the wheel bag, carried once, reassembled, and the storage of the bag is completed.
- The total length, width and height is 250 cm (up to 2 meters in length)
- Points will be awarded from 1st place to 500, 400, 300, 200, 100 and 5th place in order of required time.

At the end of each exhibition / riding event presentation, the points earned by each team will be announced.

Details of all points earned will be published and the first to third places will be awarded.
